Most often, I use acrylic to explore the unseen, to paint intuitive until what is offered is revealed.
I aim to explore love, transformation, spiritual evolution, human connection and the divine feminine.
I sat quietly and just let emotions flow through me. It was an interesting exercise. To look at it in real life it has much , much more texture and depth. here though, it looks a little flat. Part of my process lately has been very much to be in the present and allow the flow of what ever comes. I’m learning safety in the “what is” rather that trying to force what I think “should be”. This piece is on cotton canvas, using acrylic paints, felt pens, pastels and pencil. Its very mixed in its approach, I have used my fingers and stamping to apply the paint and texture, I have scrubbed at it and doodles and followed the rhythms of music to bring forth what lies beneath. The colours are calming and soft. the lotus flowers, and pods I see regular in my work, but the symbol in the middle to the left appears very much like something that was a regular visitor in my work 15 to 20 years ago. To be honest, I’m unsure if it comes to me as a baby, a mother or a yoni – maybe it has something to do with creation. That would make sense, given I associate the lotus flower and the lotus seeds pods very strongly with the emergence of new creations, being birthed anew so to speak.This image is an experiment on wings. Giving space to my work is unusual. But I like it. In real life this canvas is very textured, It has layers and layers and layers behind it. It was an experiment. and it represents to me the way in which our experienced build on one an other and as they build we learn more and more. particularity as a i grow older I see the wisdom and the value in what has gone before. i see that all the experiences of my younger years and those of the my sister, my mother and my grandmothers before me have filled me with a wisdom that enables me to fly. The dark holds intense pain and anguish, but when you look closely there is all manner of life there. the light on the other hand is full of vibrant joy and an unwavering sense of hope. These are two of my favourites from my more recent pieces. One face offered to the outside is stunted and gagged, held in check by accepted systems and social norms. While the other side, most often kept for private with trusted friends, offers a freedom and acceptance of the gift of love, an altered understanding of family and the sovereignty to express oneself independently, creatively and with truth and integrity. Moon Dancer gives life to the Triple Goddess in all of us, the divine feminine in which we seek to stand in each moment of our life. I'd like to add, No mud , No Dragonfly. These two things remind us that beauty and strength rises from diversity. Hold tight my dear, your turn will come . $200 SOLDWhen we keep our eyes on what we don't like we live from a place of lack. this was inspired by someone who leads a blessed life, who has everything, love, devotion, beauty, kindness, and yet they are often unhappy. When we choose to look around we can see the abundance that is our life. The bird in the painting has not turned its head to see the vines laden with abundant fruit and berries because it is simply focused on the darkness. We often don't see what we have util we lose it, and then it is too late. $200 SOLDSpread Your Wings identifies that aspect of the feminine hat holds within it the power of hope for the future and the knowing that enables forward movement. When the world feel grimy, dirty and our bodies are drenched with gross bits that have been thrust upon us without our permission, the feminine still has within itself the possibility of flight. Spread Your Wings serves as a reminder to make the choice to be powerful. 76cm W x 102cm H Acrylic; Indian Ink; on Canvas $250Heart Felt is about the connections between people – partnership, connection, love, protection, companionship etc. The people glow with their life spark and are surrounded by things / symbols that mean a lot to me. It’s such a private but innately common desire for humans to be in deep connection with each other – to be seen, to be invited to see. The blue shapes are inspired by a set of bells given to me by a dear friend more than 15 years ago, the stacked triangles are about systems and frameworks – the structure in which we live , our socially constructed structure – but it’s also a reminder to make my own structure – to be responsible. The feather is about freedom – it’s something that shows up a lot in my paintings along with the seed pods and circles, these for me are about life and cycles, new beginnings, ideas, anticipations. Among other things there is also the triple goddess symbol in there as well. I needed the people around me, I loved them dearly and I wanted to share my appreciation for them. It brings to me a sense of peace and contentment, of being able to rest in the heart of my loved ones. Acrylic on canvas SoldShe is my expression of the divine mother – the Goddess of the the earth. She is the colours of earth and for me she ignites that feeling or memory of a rain forest floor, west moist and fertile. She is without a doubt my favourite painting. She is all that is. Full of seed pods and crowded with branches and new life this painting evokes feelings of abundance and possibility. Acrylic; texture paste; on canvas 60cm W x 90cm H $350 SOLDI loved Delirium. She is small and beautiful. She is full of colour and she is a s wild as the wind in the middle of a thunder storm. She will take your heart and twirl you so fast you don't know where you started. as much as you want her around you also want to run form her, there is a constant duplicity in her presence - light and dark, fear and courage, happiness and despair. Its all in her at once - chaos. soldIn 2013 I spent some time in Bali. I met a man there that I had heard someone refer to as The Wizard. I visited his healing space in a small ashram late one night. After what I had thought was only 30 minutes or so, I walked out over two hours later with a different experience of the wold around me. He took me on a guided journey to the depths of my subconscious and led me to a place of healing where I found a spectacular oragnge tree. That tree took from me the things that no longer served me, the wounds, the unkind words, the pain and the heart ache. When I left it was almost midnight and the Ashram was quiet around me. As I climbed the stairs to the street above, I was met with a spectacular swarm of fire flies. It was like they had come to light my way home. This painting was inspired by The Wizard and that divine orange tree. That part inside of us all that holds the key to our wild heart. When I painted this i was seeking silence, seeking quite and inward focused meditative experiences. I love this painting for all the possibility it holds and the lessons it taught me along the way. It reminds me of the depth of love I am capable of, and it is a representation of the depth of love I have available to me with my friends. There is a representation of the feathers, and the way they are standing on their head at the bottom of the canvas is connected to the shapes on the eye of the face in the bottom – it’s very specific representation of family to me, I use the placement of these types of symbols to represent specifics – i.e. in this it is about seeing someone, or thinking of someone as family. There is also plenty of seeds and leaves representing life, new life & growth. And of course my beautiful dragonflies – these are by far my favourite thing. My entire back is covered in dragonfly tattoos – they mean everything to me, strength, power, freedom, ease, power, clarity, the ability to change direction whenever you want, not being locked in, and beauty, oh how beautiful they are 90 x 90 cm Acrylic; Silver Leaf; on Canvas $250 SOLDXTC is an exploration of the deepest feminine pleasure. It attempts to capture that moment that we all seek, the moment of bliss, the extension of bliss that we wish to live our entire life from.
